Kenneth Liao is the chef-owner of The Sunlit Teppanyaki Restaurant. He has been in the teppanyaki field for more than 40 years. Growing up in a big family as the eldest son, he learned to be independent at a very young age. To not be a burden to the family, he would take part-time jobs and coincidentally all of the jobs were related to food. Finally setting foot into his first teppanyaki restaurant in Taipei, there he met his partner and soul mate Connie Lai, the future Mrs. Liao.

Kenneth Liao and Connie Lai is a perfect match because they are both ambitious, a perfectionist, and they have a love for food. Despite how well the restaurant is doing, they decide to take teppanyaki onto a whole new level. They start by introducing the French cuisine into the teppanyaki world when it used to solely be Japanese and at the same time elevated the quality of tableware. Moreover, the presentation of each dish is strictly demanded to be displayed exactly as what Liao has envisioned.

Involved in every aspect of the restaurant, from concept and menu to architectural design, staff selection and finishing touches, Kenneth Liao and Connie Lai have worked together to create a restaurant that is both timely and enduring. Inspired by books and their travels, Liao is constantly creating fresh ideas and evolving as a chef and restaurateur, both adapting to the global culinary landscape and impacting the teppanyaki world.
